The Vicente Faria
Our story begins in the Douro. It starts seven generations ago at the end of the 18th century, when Vicente's family settled in the Douro to become one of the region's pioneer winemakers, producing the now famous Port and premium Douro wines.
In fact, the Douro Valley is according to UNESCO, the first and oldest demarcated wine region in the world where wines have been produced for over 2000 years.
In this region the summer is intense, and temperatures can reach over 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) and have severe winters with temperatures with negative degrees around the minus 7 Celsius (20 Fahrenheit). The soil is essentially schist, and the vineyards develop very long roots in search of water.
Surprisingly or not, these are ideal conditions for high quality but small production wines, and we take pride in using only sustainable farming practices without irrigation and fertilization. You can taste the quality and legacy in each bottle.

Vicente Faria is a 7th generation winemaker, and few people know and make wine like him.
As a child, on the slopes of the Douro Valley, he learned from his grandfather and devoted his entire academic and professional career in the pursuit of winemaking.
Having studied oenology in Bordeaux and Portugal, Vicente can combine the best of both worlds and achieve extraordinary wines. Production is carefully controlled, using only sustainable farming practices to produce outstanding wines that respect the tradition and terroir of the world's oldest demarcated wine region.
With a history of 200 years behind him and about 250 million bottles of wine produced and sold worldwide, Vicente is a leading producer in Portugal and internationally recognized winemaker.
