Our story begins in the Douro. It starts seven generations ago at the end of the 18th century, when Vicente’s family settled in the Douro to become one of the region’s pioneer winemakers, producing the now famous Port and premium Douro wines. In fact, the Douro Valley is according to UNESCO, the first and oldest demarcated wine region in the world where wines have been produced for over 2000 years.
In this region the summer is intense, and temperatures can reach over 50 degrees Celsius (122 Fahrenheit) and have severe winters with temperatures with negative degrees around the minus 7 Celsius (20 Fahrenheit). The soil is essentially schist, and the vineyards develop very long roots in search of water.
Surprisingly or not, these are ideal conditions for high quality but small production wines, and we take pride in using only sustainable farming practices without irrigation and fertilization. You can taste the quality and legacy in each bottle.
